About
It all started in May 2024, when my brother and I were working in the Kok-Zhaiyk jailoo. We opened our ethno-complex "Taberik" there and welcomed our first guests. And then, looking at the tourists, I noticed something. A person would come from far away, put on our national chapan, enter the yurt—and their eyes would light up! They were interested in everything: how we cook, our customs, and how our nomadic ancestors lived. They didn't just want to see us; they wanted to feel like they were part of our lives, even if only for five minutes.
And so I set out to gather the village women, because we've known all this since childhood. Our mothers and grandmothers taught us how to felt wool, how to weave rugs, and how to cook to your heart's content. That's how our group, "Taberik," came to be. There are now seven of us—seven ordinary women from different villages. We opened our workshop right in the garden of a guesthouse, owned by one of our craftswomen, not far from Issyk-Kul. We set up yurts there; guests sleep in one, and we gather in another, sew our traditional shyrdaks and ala-kiyiz, and make souvenirs.

We're currently holding five master classes! We cover both crafts and our cuisine. Previously, we did all this only for ourselves, for our home, but now people from all over the world come to us, and we share our warmth with them with such joy. For us, this isn't just a job. It's our life, our cure-all. We put our heart and soul into every stitch, every pattern, so that everyone takes home a piece of our good land. Come visit us in Zhenish—let's sit in the garden, drink some tea, and create something beautiful together!
The name "Taberik" means the heritage of our customs, culture, to leave to our future generations all the heritage of the Kyrgyz nomadic people

This was the most meditative morning of my life! We thought we would just watch how the wool is felted, but we were fully involved in the process. It turns out that every pattern tells a story — the masters explained the meanings of 'ram’s horns' or 'water.' Beating the wool with sticks is a great way to relieve stress, and when you end up with real dense felt, you feel like you've touched something ancient. I took home a small coaster I made with my own hands. Highly recommended!

I had no idea that you wrap up to 30 meters of fabric around your head! It looks majestic and instantly changes your posture. It was very enlightening to learn about the status of women in nomadic culture.

We happened upon this masterclass as part of an ethno-tour. It’s a very touching and sacred process. Even if you don’t have children, it’s fascinating from an anthropological perspective. And, of course, the tasting at the end with homemade kaymak was delicious and full of local flavor.
