about
Under the same tunduk.
They say that the strongest relationships begin not with calculations, but with faith in each other. Our "Dastorkon" began exactly like that—at the very beginning of our marriage.
Kaipbek literally captivated me with his stories. I remember how he enthusiastically drew plans, presented calculations, and believed in something that had never been done in our native Karakol. His confidence rubbed off on me. We spent all of 2012 searching: researching, traveling to the capital, watching others work, and all the while dreaming of our own—something special, national, and warm.
In May 2013, we took a bold step—we took out a loan and bought a plot of land. Many people doubted it back then: "Why build so far from the center? Will people come?" But my husband believed that if you create a special place with soul, guests will definitely find it.
We built quickly, as if in one breath. Just six months later, Dastorkon opened its doors. Back then, it was a single, cozy room with ethnic themes, a menu on a standard A4 sheet, and very honest food, huge portions, and prices affordable for everyone. We wanted every guest to feel at home.
We invested more than just money in the interior design, but meaning. Three wooden tunduks hanging from the ceiling, like in a real yurt, chia curtains, and clay "chopo" plates in niches—all of this was created by our local artisans from natural wood and clay. We wanted the walls of our restaurant to tell the story of our people.
I remember our first ski season. Kaiybek himself went to the base, met the skiers, and told them about our café. And it worked! Guests from all over the world fell in love with our cozy atmosphere. And since 2014, tourists from all over the world have flocked to us, and many of them have become our good friends.
In 2016, we grew—opened a second dining room, expanded the kitchen, and expanded the menu. But the main thing remained unchanged. Dastorkon is our brainchild, our family hearth. We still cherish the logo we developed at the very beginning, as a symbol of where it all began. Today, as we look out at the full hall of guests, we realize it was all worth it. We built this place for you, with love for each other and for our shared home—Karakol.
Yours, Aigul and Kaiypbek.
"Dastorkon" is a space for warm communication, respect, and inspiration, because for the Kyrgyz, a guest is sacred, and a meeting over dastorkon is a symbol of abundance, happiness, and peace in the home.

My husband and I came to Kyrgyzstan for the first time. We decided to see Issyk-Kul and visit Karakol. We'd read a lot online about places to eat, and then we saw your cafe. Everything was truly top-notch, the cuisine incredibly delicious. We had the beef roast and the Issyk-Kul salad... We left feeling incredibly satisfied. The staff was very friendly. The administrator, Aida, offered us a very cozy spot on the summer veranda, showed us the different dining rooms, and recommended a menu brochure. We were especially lucky with our waiter, Sezim. She's a very pleasant and sweet girl! If we come back to your city, Dastarkhon will be our first stop! 🙏🙏

An excellent restaurant with a wide selection of dishes, the food is delicious. The prices are quite reasonable. You can sit either inside at European-style tables or outside under the oriental-style awnings, on carpets at low tables. In the summer evenings, local musicians host short concerts of Kyrgyz traditional music in the courtyard. The best café in Karakol, in my opinion.
